I can still picture myself as a player in the Tecmo Bowl. I've got that video game. I've got the computer to play it on. But it's hidden in a container that's in storage. It's iconic. It makes me feel good to hear grown men in their 40s telling me"Hey, my cousin and I got into the most intense battle of our lives because we both wanted to be you in Tecmo Bowl when we were young. Then our parents took the game and my dad locked the game in his tool cabinet. The game was unplayable for a whole month since the fighting was so intense. I hear this often. At exhibitions of sports memorabilia, there are people who come up with that video game. They'll tell you, "I've have the game machine I played it on. My kids play it. My grandkids are fans ... as does everyone still debates about who's going to be Bo Jackson.' Tecmo Bowl ... that was a lot of technology in the early days. It's now viewed and you're like, "Wow this is an antique.'

One of the aspects of your video game return to Madden includes celebrating Nike's iconic Bo Knows campaign. We'll go back to the beginning. How did the brand present the concept that Bo Knows was the name of Bo Knows to you?
We happened upon Bo Knows accidentally. Directors, writers, sketchers We had just been sitting around going over some storyboards to shoot our next project. We decided to trim it down because it was quite long. Everybody was giving their opinion about this or this. I asked, 'Why can't we do this? ... Then why would we not shift this over here, put this there, then combine it, and then cut it down to 5 or 6 seconds?' They glanced at me , and they said 'Wow. It's probably going to work. Someone across the table glanced towards me with a smile and replied "Bo Knows!' And it stuck. No one sat down and ran through their thoughts or stayed up all night in search of that catchy slogan. It just happened sitting around the table talking about shots.
Before you had a signature shoe, you had the Nike Air Bo Turf, in 1990, you headlined for the Nike Air Trainer 3, which became the name of your shoe. What are your fondest memories regarding the Air Trainer 3?
Let me explain it this way. In 1969 the year I was in the very first grade in rural Alabama In the winter, it was in the mid-30s outside. And I had to go to school barefoot. No shoes. I'm not sharing this story for sympathy or as a sob story. But I do remember my brother being a block away from our house. I'm standing at the front door. Our sister was a short distance from him, and the other one was waiting at an intersection at the bus stop. When my sister at the bus stop saw that the bus had climbed the hill a couple of kilometers away, she'd yell towards my younger sister, who would shout to my brother, and my brother would yell at me. Then I'd take off out the door , barefoot. When my brother arrived at my sister's house I'd probably caught him up to speed. When we finally got close to our bus stop, I was 15 to 20 yards ahead of my brother and sister. I went to school barefoot during the cheap Madden 22 coins winter of '69 to growing up and getting the same sneaker as me ... I felt blessed.
