The USFL has had its share of kicker i sues over the first month of its inaugural season. The kicking game was so bad in Week 1 that the league actually opted to change its kicking balls to make it le s of a problem for its eight teams.One team that hasn't dealt with such problems at the kicker spot is the Houston Gamblers. Houston has been one of the USFL's best teams from a kicking standpoint, and that is thanks largely to the performance of Nick Vogel.Vogel has been one of the best kickers in the USFL, but he has another claim to fame as well. He was selected in the 32nd round of the 2022 USFL Draft and was the seventh kicker chosen overall.Vogel played football collegiately at UAB, which is located in Birmingham, the USFL's host city for 2022.He first began his career at UAB in 2014, when he was a redshirt freshman at the school. He then headed toSouthern Mi s after UAB shuttered its football program, but he never played for the Golden Eagles.Vogel was one of the few Blazers to return to Birmingham when UAB reinstated football Richard Sherman Jersey for the 2017 season. UAB posted a 28-13 record during Vogel's three-year run and won the Boca Raton Bowl following the 2018 season.Vogel didn't play football in 2020 but joined the BC Lions of the CFL in 2021. He made all eight of his field goals in that role with a long of 44 yards.
