In a post from WoW content creator MrGM WOTLK Gold dissected the number of days between alpha testing for earlier expansions as well as an expansion's date of release. That number is somewhere between about 188 days, at the earliest and 281 days by the end of the year. There's still 192 days in 2022 as a comparison. Another post from Reddit user Jeth84 The post compared release dates for all previous WoW expansions and shows that should Dragonflight is released this year, it's nearly on time for the typical two-year period between expansions.

In theory Dragonflight's arrival in 2022 would be on time. But, it's important to keep in mind the development challenges Blizzard has faced the last several years which could have potentially affected the growth of Dragonflight, such as a lot of the team working from home due to COVID-19 along with other problems (including employee walkouts and strikes) due to the many legal cases and investigations that have plagued Blizzard over the past 11 months.

All things considered There are good positive reasons to be optimistic about Dragonlfight's chances of debuting in 2022. Many players have speculated that Dragonflight could be further along than expected due to Blizzard moving resources away Shadowlands over the last two years in order to concentrate more specifically on its new expansion.

Shadowlands is only the second expansion within WoW history to have received two content patches in its time. Although Blizzard claims that having just two patches of content was the intention for Shadowlands Many fans believe a third update (which is typical in expansions) was removed so that Blizzard could cheap WOW WOTLK Classic Gold allocate extra development time to Dragonflight.
