World of Warcraft Developers Discuss The challenges of bringing Wrath of the Lich King to Classic WOTLK Classic Gold. Blizzard game developers Brian Birmingham and Kris Zierhut discuss the challenges involved in bringing Wrath of the Lich King to World of Warcraft Classic.
World of Warcraft recently announced the Wrath of the Lich King expansion is coming to Classic servers. Wrath Of the Lich King brought players into the land of Northrend, where they faced on against the Lich King and his undead Scourge on the summit of the world. The expansion was a favorite in WoW history and the announcement that it came along with its brand new Dragonflight expansion brought almost the same amount of excitement.
Game Rant participated in a group interview with World of Warcraft Classic lead software engineer Brian Birmingham and principal system designer Kris Zierhut about Wrath of the Lich King Classic's grand return.
As members of the original Wrath of the Lich King team, Birmingham and Zierhut are equally passionate about the evolution of World of Warcraft as they are well-versed. The creators shared some of the most challenging parts of reviving Wrath of the Lich King and also discussed their plans for the future of World of Warcraft Classic.
One of the most difficult challenges in the development of Wrath of the Lich King Classic is its coding. Consolidating the data from Classic, Wrath of the Lich King and selling World of Warcraft into a complete experience is a complicated undertaking. According to Birmingham the process involves importing the data of Vanilla World of Warcraft, Burning Crusade buy WOW WOTLK Classic Gold, and Wrath of the Lich King and connecting it with previous and current Classic and Retail World of Warcraft versions.
