Grigoire, the Galvanic Saint, is one of the most challenging world bosses introduced in Diablo 4's Season of Blood. This deadly lightning-wielding foe lurks within the Hall of the Penitent, promising legendary rewards like weapons, armor, and the coveted Demonbinder Mount Armor cosmetic for those brave enough to face him. This comprehensive guide will teach you everything you need to know to take down Grigoire and claim your hard-earned Diablo IV items and loot.
Before you can challenge Grigoire, you'll need to gather the materials to open his portal. You'll need 5 Living Steel on World Tier 4, or 2 Living Steel on World Tier 3. Living Steel drops from Tortured Gifts during the Helltide event that occurs periodically.
Once you have the required Living Steel, travel to the Dry Steppes region and head just south of Ked Bardu to find the entrance to the Hall of the Penitent. Interact with the pedestal to open the portal, then brace yourself for a fierce battle!
Making sure your character is properly geared and specced for the encounter is critical. As a lightning-based foe, having lightning resistance capped at 70% is highly advised. Stock up on Topaz gems and Lightning Resistance potions. Equipment and skills that improve dodge chance and mobility will also prove useful in avoiding Grigoire's deadly attacks.
Now it's time to dance with death! When the fight begins, be ready to move as lightning pillars activate across the arena. Use the openings in between to strike Grigoire. Beware his frontal lightning orb attack and try to get behind him whenever possible.
At around 40% health, Grigoire will kneel and summon normal minions - use this opportunity to go all out with your biggest damage abilities.
Once Grigoire stands again, stay alert and keep moving. Dodge the lightning pillars and kite Grigoire in circles if needed. With practice, you'll come to anticipate his moves and find more openings to chip away at his health.
Once you finally defeat Grigoire, the real rewards begin. He has a chance to drop class-specific weapons, armor pieces, and the highly coveted Demonbinder Mount Armor cosmetic. You'll also receive Twisted Embers, an important crafting material needed to unlock the dreaded Uber Duriel boss encounter.
Once you've bested Grigoire once, it's time to optimize your farming strategy. Here are some tips for getting the most out of each Grigoire run:
While high mobility is ideal for dodging Grigoire's attacks, other strategies can work too. Try these alternatives if you want to change up your approach:
You now have all the knowledge needed to permanently ground Grigoire and walk away in triumph with his incredible treasures. Gather your Living Steel, choose your strategy wisely, and show the Galvanic Saint that a true Nephalem warrior will never be intimidated by a little lightning! The glorious loot of Diablo awaits those brave enough to overcome this electrifying adversary.
