As previously described by Amazon Game Studios, no new content will be released in New World in February, and the team will focus on bug fixes and improvements.
"Deciding when to align resources to provide new content or to focus on improving what's already there is a delicate balancing act for a live game, and New World is no different," the February PTR announcement reads. "For our February game update, we've taken a moment of pause on feature development in favor of improving the state of the live game."
The most notable of these improvements is an update to combat responsiveness. Weapon swapping should be smoother, players can now swap weapons while dodging, reacting, using consumables and traversing the environment. Switching to a weapon and then queuing an attack or ability is now also possible, allowing players to perform an action immediately after the swap. Also, the recovery period after dodging has been shortened.
While the PTR's notes don't go into specifics, some weapon capabilities have been "significantly revised." This includes the Great Axe's powerful Gravity Well abilities, as well as powerful Rifle skills such as Blocking, Sticky Bombs, and Archer's Stance.
The February PTR update also added a dedicated trading chat channel for players to sell their wares, as well as some tweaks to the game's Outpost PvP mode, including a mode-changing score job and reward update that now includes faction generations currency.
