In an interview with Syfy WoTLK Gold in order to announce his latest Netflix film Mute, which is being praised as being less than a smash hit--Duncan Jones has been very candid about the film's problematic production. According to the trailer the film's production is extremely and contentious.
" World of Warcraft was an issue for the political as it relates to filmmaking. In my opinion, a lot of the rewriting film, during the course of the production process, was really, really difficult and at times depressing" He says. "Just being forced to make changes and compromises simply because of the politics and the nature of the film. This was a real heart-wrencher. But I've learned lots and I've become more mature and comfortable with such situations because I've had to go through it. But at the time the experience was very traumatic."
At the core of the matter, Jones believes, was turmoil at Legendary Pictures--the studio which is the producer of World of Warcraft . "It was mostly studio politics. We all know that Legendary was extremely turbulent time while we were creating World of Warcraft ," he declares. "They were associated with Warner Bros. They left Warner Bros. and joined Universal. They were bought by Wanda the Chinese conglomerate buy WoTLK Classic Gold. They lost or replaced a number of their producing staff halfway through our movie."
